I was waiting for the right kind of summer day to do this hike and this was it. Super-saturated tropical air associated with the approaching remnants of former Hurricane Odile, with no sun beating down, and steady light rain (less than a tenth of an inch per hour) made this very enjoyable. Yes, I got soaked over the course of about three hours on the trail, but there was a nice breeze and the temperature was in the mid 70s. Translation=comfortable!

It is now mid afternoon, and I am still waiting for this thing to live up to the hype of "a big event." I have an increasing hunch it is for the most part going to be a flop (more than happy to be wrong about that).
