But for such a short hike there is great scenery and two short slot canyons. Getting an early start we didn't see anyone in either canyon. Zebra was first up and my favorite of the two because of the zebra strip striations on the rock. Being short canyon it doesn't take long to reach the end at a climb where we turned around. You can go past the six foot climb but the slot only goes for another 50 feet or so.
After leaving Zebra it's about a mile over to Tunnel Slot which is even shorter. The slot is a true tunnel as the water has bored through the rock creating it's namesake. The canyon continues past the tunnel for a few hundred feet and we turned around there. There was one small pool in the tunnel but we were able to easily stem over it. Once back through the tunnel we hiked out the same way to the trail head. Great weekend topper in this cool area of Utah and so much more explore for sure! |
