| partners | | Before heading back to Arizona we had two more slot canyons to explore on the way out. Still on the Hole in Rock road we parked at the TH for Tunnel and Zebra slot canyons. It's about 2.5 miles into Harris Wash and the entrance to Tunnel which was first up. Tunnel is extremely short but high in fun factor. The slot was filled with water but still able to wade while others practiced their stemming skills to stay out of the deepest part. We explored the area and eventually made our way back out to Harris Wash. From there it's over to Zebra and this very short cool slot. As the name implies the slot has Zebra strips along the walls in the middle part. There was an up climb which only one of our group navigated and informed us that a keeper hole just beyond would not be passable without some gear. So we decided to turn around at this point having seen most of the slot. Once out we had some lunch and then headed back to the TH. There were two small groups in the area but we had most of this hike to ourselves. Once back at the TH we had the dreaded drive back. Thanks to Belinda and Joel Norby for setting this trip up and working out all the logistics! |
