After that it was on to Ajo for night two of the trip. My lodging for the night was the Sonoran Desert Inn and Conference Center, housed in a portion of the former Curley School Campus located in the historic downtown part of town. It is in a great location within easy walking distance to the town plaza. I had checked this place out the year before, but now it was time to stay there.
During past visits to Ajo I have stayed at the La Siesta Motel, which is another good choice. It is more of a traditional motel. If you want a television or a pool, stay at the La Siesta. I had hoped to get a meal at the nearby 100 Estrella Restaurant, but they were closed. I ended up getting a decent meal at the Agave Grill, a sort of Asian fusion place. Ajo is a small town, so choices are limited.
I enjoyed my stay at the old school and in the morning it was time to head home. I like Ajo.
Included are some some morning photos from Organ Pipe, as well as photos from the next morning at the motel. |
