| no partners | | I led a small group out to the Dixie Mine on Friday morning. We do this hike with some regularity, so I varied it by hiking a prominent wash - one of the maps I saw referred to it as Ashbrook Wash. That led to some game trails which eventually intersected a really sweet singletrack that paralleled the road for a while. Eventually though, the single track took us to the road. We hiked toward the mine, passing the adit and then the petroglyphs to the dryfall. Continuing up the wash, we eventually arrived at the Prospector Trail. We turned left, got back onto the road and took Dixie Mine Trail back. It was still a lollipop hike, but we were able to make the loop a bit bigger. Distance turned out about the same as when we do it as a mostly out-and-back using Dixie Mine the entire way.
We saw a few bunnies today, but not much else in the way of wildlife.
The saguaros have a lot more blooms on the sides of the cactus than I ever remember seeing in the past. |
