| no partners | | An early morning lasso with a spur in McDowell Mountain Park and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve...
Starting from the Dixie Mine parking area at the end of Golden Eagle Blvd, I hiked out Dixie Mine, the up the road to Prospector; Prospector to Bell Pass Trail; up Bell Pass Trail to the pass; then back down, past the intersection with Prospector to the intersection of Bell Pass, Windgate Pass, and Windmill; Windmill to Coachwhip; Coachwhip to Dixie Mine; and back to the parking lot on Dixie Mine.
Temps were in the mid seventies when I started and mid- to high-nighties when I finished. Bringing two 3 liter reservoirs, I drank at least 4 liters of water.
I saw a number of other trail users along the way, including trail runners, mountain bikers, and other hikers. I was surprised to see a family heading out at around 10:30am as I was returning.
As usual, the trails in the park and the preserve are in excellent condition, are well signed, and are super easy to follow. |
