After posting to online sites and flyers in the area, the Lunatic assimilation begins.. I have been in the upper sections of Sycamore, but never up Parsons. This trail was fantastic and a perfect intro for the pooch. Trail drops into the canyon right away and after a short rocky decent, the canopy closes in overhead and pretty much shades the entire hike. Most of the trail after this is a flat dirt path. The few creek crossings were very short and easy. Dropped my sunglasses at one of the crossings and when I realized it, I was about a mile from Parson's Spring. Not wanting to overdue the pup too much, I turned back, found the shades, and hung out at the swimming hole for a while. I found this area of Sycamore Canyon to be identical to Wet Beaver and West Clear Canyons. This place is awesome and a great hike for dogs, just stinks to drive so far for such a short trip.. Probably do a Packard loop next time up here. Luna did great and seemed to enjoy the freedom and leading the pack.. maybe we'll keep her.. ;-) |
