| no partners | | | I saw this hike mentioned on this site and it looked interesting so as my last hike of the day I decided to give it a try. I thought Pivot Rock would be obvious so I never thought to see exactly where it was located , so as a result I never really saw it. I had a GPS route I got from this site and it had a small excursion off trail at where the cabin is, so I thought it would be there. Turns out the person who created the GPS route probably took the GPS with them when they went a little off trail to do something, because there was nothing there except some nice bushes. Nice trek through Pivot Rock Spring Canyon, Pivot Rock Canyon and the first half of Hicks Duncan Canyon. I was kind of rushed because it was getting late and the storms looked like they were brewing so I didn't dilly dally. The last part of the hike up Hicks Duncan Canyon is a bush wack but not too hard staying in the stream bed. When it does get choked up head to the east side of the canyon (left as you up), it is less obstructed by brush. Overall one of the easier exits out of a canyon with no trail. I will do this hike again to see Pivot Rock but from the Pivot Rock Canyon parking area it is only a half mile walk. |
