| partners | | We first hiked this in 2013 so figured it was time to see how much it had changed over 6 years.
And change it did... although we had noticed ATV tracks in a few areas where they didn't belong in 2013, now there were ATV tracks in or along the full length of Pivot Creek as well as Hicks and Duncan Creek.
There wasn't much flow in the creeks, just enough that on each of the 50-or-so crossings we did there was a bit of effort not to get wet... at least over the ankle anyway. Although we encountered a few strategically-placed logs, neither of us was willing to use any for crossing.
It felt a bit weird hiking the opposite direction and from a different trailhead as last trip. Another thing completely different was a total lack of wildlife... we saw nothing, not even a squirrel. (Which of course brings back the memory of the squirrel which almost fell on Tracey while we were taking a break.) I suppose all the smoke prompted the animals that could to leave the area? |
