| partners | | We were in the area checking out Sycamore Cabin and decided to hike Pine Mountain Wilderness. With the threat of rain we were not sure how long before it would start. We gave it shot anyway and hoped to see some color starting in the canyon. Unfortunately, it was still too early for any color with the maples and gamble oak but it’s still nice canyon to hike.
After about 2.5 miles it started to rain and we decided to turn around. My bigger concern was not hiking in the rain but more driving the road out. There are some slick muddy spots that are like driving on ice when really wet. Made it back to the vehicle and started the drive out and it was quite adventurous with the slick mud being as advertised. Totally different drive than on the way in and all the side drainages were flowing from the downpour. Fortunately, we made it out with no issues!
