The dirt road access on FR 411 was pretty good and we parked where the road crosses Naegelin. From there we hiked downstream which was dry creek bed but about 3/4 mile down we started to see pools. Eventually there was a light flow and larger pools in among the ponderosa pines. About 1.8 miles downstream we reached a narrows and pour off that would be our turnaround point. It's possible to get around the pour off but there is some climbing and exposure involved. Not feeling ambitious we decided to take a break and enjoy the this nice narrow section of the canyon. After the break we headed back upstream back to the vehicle. Nice little canyon which is actually one of the main headwaters for Haigler Creek. |
