| no partners | | Friday and Sunday I made two seperate bruiser hikes into this big open country.
First hike I started at the AZ trail along Twin Buttes rd and went right down into the head of RC.
It’s not for everyone but I love the constant ankle breaking Malapai rock that cover the ground, makes those stability muscles stronger with every trip.
Plenty of ground water to be found, no fresh signs of recent animal activity besides the abundance of cattle and a few elk scat piles.
Sunday I started of off FR 427 and made it a pretty substantial distance into some side canyons just before the Mazzy Wilderness boundary and made a big loop back.
Heard some coyotes and plenty of cattle but again no elk or deer.
Nothing but silence and solitude out in this big unforgiving area, just the way it should be!
