You have to drive 8.5 miles of forest service road to get to the trailhead but it's definitely worth it. There's even a great viewpoint along the road in at about 7 miles from the main road. Wildflowers were out and we didn't see a single person until we got to the top. While there were a few people there, we did have some time to ourselves. Saw more people on the way out but the trail didn't feel crowded by any stretch. Beautiful blue skies meant the views were great. Bugs were out but not too when the breeze came around. Nice and cool when we started out just after 9 but it had heated up by the time we got back after 2. Meadows looked to be the perfect spot to see some wildlife but a single frog was all we saw. |
