Takakkaw Falls is quite impressive itself and while the parking lot can fill up with people coming to see it, vastly fewer people do any hiking in the area. With a rainy forecast we were able to score parking around noon without a problem. After eating lunch and getting some pix of Takakkaw Falls, we set off on our hike which starts at end of the walk-in campground. This hike offers great river views and lots of waterfalls along the way. At the end of the hike, Twin Falls is a great looking falls. On a sunnier day would we would have been grateful for the wind and mist at the bottom of the falls. You can continue on to the top of falls but given the time of day, overcast skies and tired feet, we opted to make the base of the falls our turn around point. There is also a mountain teahouse near the base of the falls. We had periods of sun and rain on this hike. The river views were stunning with the sun out but even in the rain the views were good. |
