Drove up to Flagstaff to beat the heat and took it one step further and dropped into the cool Lava River Cave. Had the full harem and Mark from Pine. Got there early and found a sign that the LRC was closed for parking lot construction. There was a Forest Ranger at the trail head and, luckily, told us only half the parking lot was closed and the cave was opened. Only one other car in the lot when we arrived. Pretty much had the cave to ourselves on the way in. Passed a steady line of people on the way out. So disappointed to find toilet paper and graffiti deep into the cave :( Took the big camera, flash, and tripod for some great pictures.
