We got run off the mountain early by thunderstorms last year when we did this hike. Much better luck this time around. Left Phoenix at 5AM and got to the quickly filling trailhead at 7am. Lots of groups heading for the summit. We had the crash site all to ourselves for the duration of our visit. Scrambled to the top of the debris field to check out the landing gear and motor. It was slow going across the scree field. Storms rolled in as we were heading back into Flagstaff for some post hike treats.
