| partners | | Looking for snow and escaping the heat in the valley. We found plenty of that on Bear Jaw Abineau Loop. We went up Abineau first and hit snow right away. In the trees the snow was especially deep and we had some trouble with post holing for about a mile. Eventually the trail or the route because we could not actually see it pops out of the trees and the snow was much easier to navigate. We continued up to the Waterline road at the sign and took a break. It was a bit windy but great spot for a break.
After the break we hiked down Waterline which still had some very large snow banks but still easy to get through. Took a lunch break before the Bear Jaw turn off and a few people hiked by while we were sitting there. After lunch it was down Bear Jaw which had very little snow compared to Abineau. We made quick work of the trail and ran into several groups on the way back to the parking lot. Nice see the snow one last time for the season! |
