Lunch at picnic area before hitting the summit. Drop along Groom Creek was quite steep, kid #2 had two big faceplants in the first five minutes and required some emotional first-aid. Connector was overgrown and had some of deadfall to work around, though it was totally worth it, as it had the only running water for the kids to play with and some of the best vantages of the hike. Descent down the leg of the lasso was painless and we celebrated with some concrete mixers before tackling the drive home.
Covid Crowd Report
About a dozen groups on the way to Spruce Mountain. Peak was crowded, we didn't spend much time there. Two groups descending down Groom Creek, no one on connector, and three groups descending Isabella. Everyone was super friendly, especially the handful of mountain bikers. I like Prescott. |
