| no partners | | Quick morning adventure in the Supes. Left parking lot after 5am, one of only 3 vehicles. Climb up to Peralta was pleasant, turned off headlamp a half-mile from summit. Sad views north of the burned valley. Peralta Trail north of the saddle had a few minor washouts for the first bit and plenty of surrounding char on the first 1.5 miles, then it returned to the normal brown/green. The tree tunnel is still there Lost Dutchman from Peralta Terrapin is normal, some claw-y overgrowth. Burn area shows up again on Terrapin, much of that trail has been toasted. Two deadfall in the little Needle Canyon drop - I cleared one, the other is more substantial - though I suspect more may fall in the coming months. Escaped the burn area after the Bluff Springs junction. Only saw 3 other groups on the trail, all on Bluff Springs within a mile of the parking lot, which was quite full on return. Clockwise was the way to go today to avoid the crowds.
No water in sight, though I didn't veer too far to look. Talked to some backpackers who said Bluff Springs was dry, though when I asked about a rusty pipe they looked confused, so I think we may have been thinking about two different springs. |
