| no partners | | Hiked up Dickey Creek Trail #553 to Big Slide Lake. Pleasantly surprised to find the trailhead completely empty upon arrival. Slightly overcast and in the 60s to being with, but the sun eventually broke through and it warmed up.
Trail is a bit rugged, with lots of downed trees and deadfall, but still easy to follow. Trail only crosses the creek one time, otherwise it is too far away to see it. Big Slide Lake is shallow and full of newts, but otherwise not too exciting. Tried to hike up to Welcome Lakes to form a loop, but hit heavy snow at the trail junction and decided to abort my plans. |
