Hit the trail around 1430 and headed up to Bear Point. Temps in the 70s and sunny, the trail winds through dense forest for the first two miles and was quite well shaded. After the split to Bear Point the trail begins to climb more steeply and views opened up. Couple lingering snow drifts at the top and some mosquitoes, but the views were worth it.

Back down on the main trail I continued on toward Jefferson Park. Area still has a good amount of snow on the ground, the mosquitoes are only just beginning to hatch and are not yet a problem. I was surprised by the number of people camped in Jefferson Park- most of which must have come in from the easier southern trailhead. I opted to find a more secluded spot for myself and camped on the outskirts near a meadow with nice views of Mt. Jefferson.

Got an early start the next morning and was on trail by around 0500. In the last bit of twilight I could just make out the twinkling light of a climber near the top of Mt. Jefferson as I broke camp.
