This was Milo's longest hike to date and his first ever backpacking trip, but he did a great job. There was much more water than I had anticipated and he took advantage of every opportunity to splash in the pools and have a good time. We arrived at our campsite around 1730 and set up camp while the setting sun illuminated the cliff walls above us.
I slept in my bivy sack overnight and woke up to a light sheet of ice and a partially frozen water bottle. I knew it would be colder and damp since we were by the creek, but I didn't actually expect it would drop below freezing overnight. We broke camp at exactly 0900 and were back to the trailhead a bit before 1400. Overall a very enjoyable loop, not sure why I waited so long to backpack the Superstitions and will definitely be returning. |
