| no partners | | One more fall hike in the SF Peaks and probably my last trip up there for the year. Couldn't help but include Fremont and tied it into a loop sure to pass through at least some autumn color.
Schultz Tank at 4:30. Waterline for an hour and a half in the dark. Bright stars over dull city lights. Southern Waterline is probably a decade away from being a worthy fall inclusion. What small aspens there are were yellow.
Waterline around Inner Basin was just about prime. Impossible to say, can't help but try. It's not like it ever all peaks at the same time, so there's always bound to be some disappointment and surprise. The joys of fall.
Up to Fremont one last time this year. Folds of yellow all around. Warmer than expected, until the clouds swept in with the wind and I headed down.
SE ridge down to Weatherford. Good footing, bristlecones, meadows, shortest route back to Schultz Tank. Weatherford a mix of colors. Lower is on the way up, upper is on the way down.
Aspen side of the Weatherford Loop. More leaves on the ground than in the trees. Short window this year. Last of autumn color mostly in the bottom half.
Saw a few people all over the mountain. Temps from 40s to 70s. Everywhere but Kachina is peak or past from what I could see. |

Autumn Foliage Observation Substantial South side aspens mixed. Kachina entering peak, Weatherford exiting. Inner Basin peak and winding down. |
