| partners | | Another short late afternoon hike. We wanted to hike up the Tanque Verde Ridge Trail just before sunset and catch the sunset on the way down. This was a good workout hike with a good amount of AEG. The hike back was filled with Oohs and ahs as the sun was setting. The bonus was that the moon was rising at the same time. Can't get much more of a full moon than that. We arrived back at the car after dark but the moon helped light the trail.
This trail is not one of my favorite, most of the time it is my route back from Mica Mountain. Seems to go on forever. It is not my choice of trails to hike up to Mica Mountain, There are plenty of other easier routes up (although none of them are easy). The desert was dry and the cactus showed it. a couple of ocotillos had leaves on them so they must of received some water from the last rain. Only saw a hand full of people on the trail but then it was toward the end of the day. |
