| partners | | Well, Mrs. SloFolks is still in the hospital fighting off the dreaded "C" word's third attempt at her. She has won the first two battles and we are certain she will be victorious again. This one is even tougher due to Covid restrictions, meaning no visitation from anyone. Luckily, a section of the Maricopa Trail runs right outside her hospital room window so I'm able to get to right below her window to wave and make funny faces at least. 
I needed to get out of the house for the sake of my own mental well being and Angela, aka "tibber", was nice enough to join me on an excursion into the Tonto National Forest north of Spur Cross Ranch. I've done this loop before several times and reported on it here so no need to go into much detail again. Suffice to say, this area never disappoints. Lovely vistas in all directions. There was no water in the creek two weeks ago but now there was. It sure doesn't take much rain to get things going.
Lot's of cars, (and people) in the lot when we finished. Angela commented that the new Covid crowds along with the addition of holiday hikers made it seem like an airport terminal near the trailhead....how true.  Many screaming kids and lot's of white socks and Birkenstocks. Shoes, hats, and water are not necessary for hiking BTW. Who knew?
We both had some gas left in the tank so we did a quick lap around the Fairyduster Loop before opening our parking lot libations. Thanks for the company and conversation Angela. Retirement suits you well.  |
