I saw that Cave Creek was running nicely yesterday on my hike so I assumed Camp Creek would be as well so I decided to go see the waterfalls. This hike is close to home and Mrs. SloFolks has always enjoyed it so I hiked it for her. Cathy says "Hey there!" to all the HAZ folks out there. She hopes to get out of the hospital and start hiking again soon.

I descended down to Blue Wash from the equestrian trailhead instead of up the road at the wash to save myself a little bit of boulder scrambling. I tweaked my knee yesterday and had to wear my brace for the first time in a year. Everything felt OK but I'm still going to baby it for a while.

After reaching Blue Wash I was saddened to see what Covid and social media have done to this once beautiful hike. I was glad in a way that Cathy wasn't with me to witness all the vandalism and trash. Many of the large granite slabs in the narrows have been spray painted with BLM, BLACK LIVES MATTER, "F" the POLICE, and DEFUND THE POLICE in LARGE letters. I lost track of how many "disposable" face masks a saw strewn about...even above the falls towards Sears Kay Ranch. And don't even get me started on all the used toilet paper.

Anyway, the falls were beautiful as always and were flowing nicely and the uphill trek in soft sand on the way out is always a joy for the calves.
