| no partners | | It was a gorgeous day for a hike. Got to the trailhead kind of late, but still had a few parking spots. From the fork off to the right from Hieroglyphics the trail was not distinct, only at certain sections was the faint path noticeable. We tried to stick to the official track as much as possible, but at times simply found it easier to visually pick out a spot afar and find our way to it. We were the only ones up by the Balanced Rock. Wife was not thrilled about the offtrail bushwhack getting to it, but enjoyment was regained by the time spent at the Balanced Rock. Enjoyed our extended break there. Went down from the other side of the Balanced Rock into the canyon to hit up Hieroglyphics, which had a steep but very distinct path down. At the pools and the rest of the way out on Hieroglyphics, there were literally hundreds of people, kids and their dogs. Beautiful day and holiday break, everyone wanted to come out. I've only been to 5057 on a ridgeline hike. Looking forward to going up via this route next time. |
