| no partners | | I wanted to get up on White Mountain one more time before the heat. The winds kept me cool all morning. The Reavis trail near the wash is messy but you can follow it. I found the switchbacks going up to Reavis Saddle to be the easiest part of the hike. There is an old ruin on the way up near the old spur trail. The cairns are there but the burn opened up the hills so no need to follow it exactly. The terrain on top is rough, then easy, then ugly dropping down. I decided to follow an old track Bob led angling down to Rogers Trail. It seemed easier ten years ago. The winds had kicked up dust so the views less than normal. I didn't see any other hikers on the trail. A group of 3 brothers are section hiking the AZT from Rogers Trough. Two were hiking down to Picket Post and the 3rd camping at the trailhead and driving down to get them tomorrow. A nice day out in the Supes. |
