| partners | | 4x4 only road for 17 miles - deep sand, rocky, rutted. Saw mostly ATVs, Jeeps and one other 4Runner; you must have 4x4 or you will NOT make it down the road. You will get stuck if you attempt this and it’s difficult to turn around. The hike is a short, steep uphill in sand to this amazing alcove /cave. The striations on the walls were beautiful and there was ZERO graffiti which made my heart happy. There was one small group there when we arrived but we had it to ourselves for a good amount of time after they left. One other group was arriving as part of a jeep tour type thing. I’ve heard it’s ~$150 per person for this & it’s SO unnecessary. Extremely easy route finding and super short hike. The only thing you need is the right vehicle and a competent driver, and you don’t really need a tour company for that! |
