| partners | | Another canyon that we spied from the road and decided to check out! This time the route down was doable for me, yay! Our plan was to continue in the canyon as far as we were able to without rappelling.
Traveling this canyon while dry is fairly easy and straightforward. There were two downclimbs that were a bit tricky, but doable without rope. Shortly after, we reached a sheer drop at a dry waterfall that was probably about 50 feet. It looked like a stunning slot canyon below us. We did have gear with us in case it were ever a necessity to rappel / for emergencies so we consulted the map to see where the canyon came out versus our vehicle. After determining it would add easily 5 miles to get back, we decided to turn around and head back the way we came.
We aren’t sure exactly which canyon we were in because our maps had it as both First Water Canyon and Hog Canyon. It was short and sweet and did have webbing at the waterfall/sheer 50ish foot drop). Would love to get through the whole canyon someday! |
