| no partners | | This is one hike I will do again. It's very close to where I'm living, and seems to be in use as the local workout trail. For the most part I don't want to do very many repeats of hikes here, because I want to see as much as I can, especially before the heat drives me north (or to the mountains).
The steep part isn't long, and gets you energized, and then, (surprise!) you come over a pass and see Hidden Valley spread out before you. It's a pretty neat feature. I went only as far as the next pass at the end of the valley. I will likely go further next time if it's not too hot.
I took only a small point-and-shoot camera, so I didn't try to get photos of the chukars, which are quail-like birds, but are larger than quail. Incidentally, chukars have naturalized in many places in the US, but they are native to the Middle East and southern Asia. Next time I'll take the Nikon, and also get there at first light. |
