| no partners | | I parked at the large pullout to the west of SR-87, as soon as you cross the Coconino Co. border.
The goal on the day was to just visit some new areas I had not been in before. The first area visited was out to the end of a point past unnamed 6336 to check out the views. Once off of FR9365R, it was a relatively easy off trail jaunt to the point. I checked three different vantage points at the end with good views. West, into the Fossil Creek Wilderness, Squaw Peak (Camp Verde) and North past Apache Maid to The Peaks in Flag.
Next another off trail travel to meet up with another FR and ultimately cross SR-87 around Fivemile Lake. Here, the lake was a small puddle. About an 1/8 mile off SR-87, there were 4 small sedans with out of state plates, on the rough road. Most of the people were in their vehicles. I kept walking.
Next goal was to head out to 6729 to see if there were any views. All wooded at the top so no views.
Time to head for the vehicle and one of my route concerns for the day. I was lucky to find an old trail that found its way through the Manzanita and dropped me off at the Quarry as indicated on the map. It looks like it had not been used in quite awhile and was much larger than I expected. |
