We started out at the visitor center (currently closed) and hiked down the beach trail. Made our way out to Yucca point and them down to the beach. My youngest had a headache, so I suggested they walk up the coast to the beach instead, and I went back up to get the car. Did the broken hill trail south fork to get back, with a side trip to broken hill overlook. Might have been the best scenery of the day. Walked a quarter mile or so of road to get the car and pick up the family at the beach down below. Well maintained trails, and steps in pretty much all the uphill areas, but sand most of the way. Buckwheat were in full bloom all over, a few blooming Dudleyas too. Made the drive up to Pizza Port for an OK lunch and some wonderful adult refreshments. |
