| partners | | Two other vehicles at the trailhead when we started, but we never saw any hikers. Cool temps as we headed uphill, and less breeze than I thought there would be. The was one downed tree across the trail about a hundred feet from the trailhead, and another about 1.85 miles in. Trail is in good shape, but lots of vegetation/grasses along the edges and encroaching. I was glad I had told my son to wear pants, because shorts would have resulted in a lot of scratches.
The half mile or so of offtrail to the summit was a little more overgrown and vague, but there were plenty of cairns along multiple routes. We ascended and descended slightly different routes, I liked the descent route better, but both were fine.
Took a long break at the summit and enjoyed the clear views. The hike back down was easy and uneventful, but getting warm at the end. Some folks were clearing the deadfall at the trailhead when we finished.
The road is in decent shape, medium clearance required. Didn’t need 4wd, but I did spin the tires in two steep spots. |
