Lamb Peak has been on my list for up here for a couple of years, but was always getting skipped on each trip for one reason or another. Part of that was because I didn’t have a whole lot of reliable/current info on the trail, and couldn’t find much online. I finally decided to give it a try today, and my daughter decided to join me too. I warned her that it may be a total bust and we could end up doing all that driving (more than 90 minutes each way) for nothing.

Foggy on the drive in, but the road was great. Just driving the forest roads out here is worth the trip. The highlight was seeing a moose along the road, and my daughter has not let her brother forget that he missed seeing it because he wanted to sleep in back at the house.

Found the trailhead fairly easily since I had made a driving track for it in RS. I was happy to see that a trail even existed. About 32 degrees at the start, and still foggy, but no wind. Steep uphill right away, and we quickly shed layers. I had started out wearing two long sleeve shirts, but one ended up being enough.

Up and up, walking through dense trees with some views off to the sides of the ridge. Eventually we were above the fog and it was a pleasant stroll. The trail obviously doesn’t get much use, but it is visible and easy to follow. Final steep climb up to the summit of Lamb, where we took a break and enjoyed the views in the meadow area at the top. We debated continuing another mile to Boundary Peak, but decided Lamb was good enough for the day.

Easy hike back down. It was in the upper 40s when we finished, but felt warmer in the sun. Nice hike, and great area to explore.
