I took a hike Sunday on Bluff Spring 235 and a little off of it of course. I was greeted by 3 friendly rangers as I signed in. It was slightly cloudy, which was nice but windy. Weather channel said 16 mph but I swear it was 25 to 30 at times. I stopped by the Williams camp to check the hole. It is just as scary as ever. Not somewhere you’d want to spend the next 30 years before anybody found you. The camp debris is nowhere near the way that it used to be there. It has been picked over really well, probably with metal detectors, etc.
Afterwards I checked a few of the many campsites around the area before heading to the spring. I didn’t realize so many of my esteemed colleagues had been there recently until I spot checked the water reports. I have nothing new and exciting to report that hasn’t already been mentioned. The pool did really stink so if you’re new to it, get further up through the brush to the better water. It was a drip but hard to measure. On the way back I decided to finally go over to the cliff by the waterfall for a closer look at the markings I had seen times earlier. Not petroglyphs. Check out the pics. |
