| no partners | | Another tribute hike for friend that recently took his own life. I am having difficulty understanding how a person so full of life could get to that point. I guess everyone carries their own burdens. Check in on your family and friends, let them know they are important to you.
Up Peralta and down the Cave Trail. A very nice loop for sure. I started out early, and caught a little color in the sunrise. One vehicle in the lot when I arrived. I think I saw that party at the Fremont Saddle while I was heading over to the Lone Tree for a little personal contemplation.
I met up with Paul and Sue Holtz who arrived to the tree when I was leaving. We ended up hiking down the Cave Trail. Left to my own devices, I probably would have just gone back down the Peralta Trail.
It was “Critter-palooza” today out in the Supes for me today. A tarantula on the way up, a beautiful AZ Black Tail rattlesnake near the tree, a desert tortoise going down the Cave Trail and very lovely (and large) horny toad near the TH. I also came across a good number of toads hopping along the trail and 653,218 butterflies (or there abouts) along the entire hike.
Nice weather today. No humidity and just a little touch of heat at the end.
Good company, an excellent trail, but a sad and solemn day for me personally. |
