| no partners | | Cloudy day with slight drizzle beckoned me to get out for a hike without having to drive far so I picked an old standby. Arrived about 0700 to half dozen cars in the Peralta Trail head lot after passing only 2 parked at Carney Springs . Overcast at first with slight sprinkles not the best clouds at first for picture taking . The trail was not busy, passed 7 others on the way up and met two more who were heading down. I made it up in about an hour then strolled over to the needle overlook to the iconic saved pine tree. Took my time on the way down Peralta , was hoping to see a reasonable route to try to connect up to the cave trail below the slide and chute but I couldn’t find one. Still had a bit of energy left so I added the Don’s Loop as described by Carlson, nice views of Barkley Basin along here ,the trail is still discernible , always enjoy the view coming down to Peralta Trail Head from Dutchman. Nice getting out in this change of pace weather. |
