Started at the Warpaint parking area and started on the ridge to the southeast. I kept going east until I finally found what looks to be a new trail called the Guadalupe Perimeter Trail. did a few loops to add mileage and avoid backtracking. Also explored some faint unmarked trails that link up with the official ones.
Once I neared the 10 mile mark, I headed back to the car and called it a day. The biggest climbs were in the morning on the ridge, but overall I was surprised to get nearly 1500' AEG in an area that's got alot of flat area for the most part.
Almost chilly in the morning, but stayed cool even once the sun hit. Saw more bikers than hikers. Crowds were mostly on the Desert Classic Trail, not so much on the newer and unmarked trails. |
