Started from Prospector Park in AJ, which is a very nice park. Made our way westward with the idea to turn around at the 3+ mile mark. Just shy of 3 miles we found a trail that was heading north that gave an opportunity to do a loop, so we took that.
Saw one diamondback on our way out that never moved at all. One the way back Dmitri walked right up one alongside the trail. I yelled at him to get back and he backed up very quickly. That one started to move a little and then curled up a bit, but not into a striking coil, and never rattled. We gave both snakes a wide berth as we walked around the trail in those spots.
got in nearly 6 miles, which was nice for a Sunday morning family hike, then got some lunch on the way home. Fun to have an adventure story seeing 2 snakes in one day. |
