| no partners | | Wanted to camp but decided against it seeing overnight temps were in the 20s. Followed ORV/FR route 201A to E Fork Sycamore Creek. Low to Mid 30s to start around 8:00 AM with a light breeze was bone chilling despite multiple insulated layers. Wind is death. Warmed to mid 50s by afternoon. Hiked upstream for a while and then downstream for a while. There is a trail downstream. Trickle of water in the creek bed some of the way. Variety of trees are making a comeback after the devastating May 2012 Sunflower Fire. Pine, other conifers returning. Fall colors in the canyons and valleys where some old growth trees survived. Coyote, deer and possible bear sign. Less sign than I expected but some is better than none. Red tailed hawk overhead. Screamed at me once or twice. Blue bird. Some quail down lower. |
