This is my first time on Gold Ridge Trail and I was surprised at how steep it is. 50 or 60 degree slop in a few spots is my guess! Trail levels out around 5000 ft but from about 4000 to 5000 ft.. steep! Some new mtn bush that I don't recognize has grown to 7 or 8 ft high in places provided some shade when needed. North end of Gold Peak appeared to have a healthy forest in drainage. Spotted Pine and possibly Maple. Would like to explore further. Spent the night on the trail with the sound of running water from both sides of the ridge and a cool 64 degrees at sunrise. 3 Deer and mouse spotted along the way. Detoured to Hardt Creek for a refreshing soak. |
