I was surprised to see snow considering how dry this winter has been but snow fields were frozen and about 4 inches deep in places and as low as about 5800 ft. Pine Butte also had snow on north slope. I have never been to Thicket Spring and I was pleasantly surprised to see some older growth trees. Morning temps were in the 30s and breezy, felt very cold but warmed to the low 60's during the day with bright sunshine. Water flowing at Thicket Spring as well as in the creek bed below. Found deer tracks, coyote tracks and observed some interesting birds. No sign of bear this trip.
