This peak has been on my to do list, so I figured that today was as good of a day as any.

About 40% of this hike was an easy stroll across the flat desert floor. About the only vegetation in this segment was some sparsely spaced creosote bushes, many of which had some blooms on them.

Most of the rest of the hike was some fairly steep climbs up some slopes with black basalt rocks and boulders on them. It looked daunting from a distance, but it was not nearly as hard as it looked. The footing was mostly solid, there were no cliffs, and there was no brush to deal with.

It was a very windy morning, which along with cloud cover made for a chilly hike. There would be lots of sun exposure on a sunny day, and I would only want to do this hike in the wintertime.

I was originally going to hike to Saddle Mountain - Tonopah afterwards, but with the windy day I decided against it. Plus I got a bit of a late start, so I would have been driving back through PHX right at rush hour.

The last 5 miles of the drive were on a mostly well graded dirt road. However, there was one wash that I had to go in and out of that I would not have wanted to do without a high clearance 4WD vehicle.

This hike won't make my top 10 list, but I enjoy hiking some of these low elevation desert peaks in the wintertime. In spite of the rocky terrain on much of the ascent, this one was a fairly easy hike.

There were quite a few creosote bushes blooming, along with a few brittlebush.
