Saw two javelinas early on while on Cholla Flats; they were walking west, so it occurred to me we might encounter them again. Uneventful loop. The return in the wash seems to be Harlow’s favorite part. A few weeks ago in the wash, we passed a spot that smelled musky, so just before reaching that same spot, I picked up a baseball sized rock. Sure enough, those same two javelinas were under a tree and they jumped up as we approached. A fairly well aimed throw of the rock encouraged them to run away from us. They ducked into a sheltered spot on the side of the wash and stayed there until we quickly got by them. Warm today, and way more sunlight than I like. |
