The canyon along the hike upstream is pretty impressive and has some cool colors. We passed more than a few groups on their way back, and spooked 3 deer foraging along the creek. An impressive beaver dam complex created a number of pools in a flatter stretch of the valley.
At the falls there were a couple of others for a bit but as we enjoyed a snack everybody left and we had the place to ourselves which was a pleasant experience. I can only imagine how awful this area might be on a busy day. I do think that our afternoon timing made the lighting nice, which was an extra bonus. But at this early time of year, the lack of sun also made the otherwise inviting swim a non-starter. |
