I had a plan to drive from Tucson to my condo in Rocky Point. It was a good day to attempt this hike since it was along the route. The high temp was around 86 so I planned on getting out there early before the heat came in.

For the first 1,000 feet, I travelled East and North through open desert. Then, I encountered a wash which I followed North. I found a lot of migrant debris in this wash - as many as 10-15 backpacks, articles of clothing, blankets, can, plastic bottles, and much more. Much of these items were in fairly good condition and could not have been there very long. I exited the wash after hiking a total of about 1/2 mile to get to the ridge going up to the high point. I started climbing North and East to get to a high point. When I was about 750 feet away from the peak, I could see the high point. I had to hike down a small slope and then back up again to get to the peak. About 100 feet from the peak, I found a Trinchera which was probably built by the Hohokam Indian tribe. There was a US survey marker at the top along with a registry. The wind was strong and that kept the weather comfortable all the way up to the peak and part of the way down. On the way down at the lower elevation the wind died down a bit and it was getting warmer, but I was able to finish the hike before it got too hot.

I parked at this location : 32.160716, -111.388721

AEG = 973 feet

The Drive: The drive was a lot worse than I expected. The first 3-4 miles were not bad, but then it got progressively worse as I got further away from the main road. There were many sections where the road was narrow and it's impossible to avoid getting your vehicle scratched on both sides from the various trees and bushes along the side of the road. The topo map indicated the road only required high clearance but perhaps because of years of monsoons and washouts, the road was worse. I had to use my 4 wheel drive to cross a few washes. Some washes were sandy and at times the road followed sandy washes. I would not attempt this drive without 4 wheel drive. I believe the drive took me 1 hour and 10 minutes from Ajo road.
