I did this hike in conjunction with Flys peak. See my triplog for Flys for all stats.

I did this hike after summiting Flys peak. When coming down the South side of Flys peak, the hike to South Flys appeared to be a nasty bushwhack. But, if you take the route I posted, it's a piece of cake. I would consider this an open country hike for the bottom 3/4 since the brush was very thin and there were many ways to go. Near the top, there were a lot of Aspen trees and a tremendous amount of deadfall which I found a way around. Basically, I followed the East ridge up and when the brush started getting thick, I stayed on the South side of the brush.

At the peak, there were a few huge fallen trees and one tree had a small rock pile. I looked around carefully and didn't see a registry anywhere up there. Overall, it was an enjoyable hike and I would do it again someday.
