| no partners | | I wanted to get a few miles in before storms kicked up and looking at the route on a topo map it looked like it would offer nice views into the blue. It's been stupid warm, even at higher elevations, so there was no desire to take the trail all the way to the river. The namesake hill and benchmark just a short distance off the trail seemed to be a good goal for the day, and that's what I settled on.
As expected, the views are about as good as any Arizona trail you can imagine. If just a few degrees cooler, a full loop dropping lower would be outstanding. As it was for me, it got a little warm on the way down, and then the monsoon clouds built up providing shaded relief on the return trip.
With four total people signed in the register since last October it was to exactly nobody's surprise that I saw no sign of anybody all day. |
