| no partners | | I had some spots along Arizona's West Coast in my mind to check out during some storm action, and though the forecast seemed to be classicly overdone, I figured it could still be worth the trip. Rain hammered the border overnight Friday, but most of the rest of the western deserts settled with a few hundredths of drizzle. And yet plenty of Hilary was still far to the south.
Yoomapalooza began on Saturday with this unknown track. I picked a road that looked like it headed in the right direction. A few intersection decisions, and I ended up at the trailhead. I started with my umbrella, but it wasn't raining that hard. The rain was warm and the temperature was in the 70s, so it wasn't long before I was hiking in just my rain skirt Not like there was anybody else on the trail today!
I spent a few minutes looking for the best route through the chute and after that topped out and took side trips to the other two high points. Not sure who put the flag up here, but it's sadly disrespectful to see in its present condition.
Cloudy, grey, rainy, delightful weather for a quick desert peak summit. |
